Meet Our Team

Barbara Plourd, LPC, NCC

I am a Master’s level, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Nationally Certified Counselor (N CC), and a trained and experienced EMDR and Flash Technique therapist. My specialized education and training has been in Trauma, Abuse, and Deprivation. My business and clinical training, and broad experiences in both fields, have included a deep respect and consideration of multiculturism and diversity in treatment, and I provide services in consideration of individual client perspectives and needs.

Before transitioning to the behavioral health field, my original career was in executive management, owning and operating my own business, consulting to small and mid-sized companies, and providing project management services within a large enterprise environment. My prior experience as an executive, business owner, and consultant to business owners, uniquely prepared me for my work as a disciplined, flexible, intuitive, and committed therapist.

Our practice includes a team of exceptional therapists, all trained and experienced in EMDR, Flash Technique, and each with additional areas of expertise, including in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and in the treatment of domestic violence, and mood disorders. Please meet our team of professional therapists. I currently accept Optima/United Healthcare, United Healthcare Community Plan (AHCCCS), AETNA, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, and Magellan insurance.

Adia Plourd, PsyD, LAC

I am a doctoral level trained clinical psychologist with a PsyD in Grief Counseling and am a licensed associate counselor (LAC). I have extensive experience working with a wide range of populations. I have worked in the behavioral health field for 12 years and been a psychotherapist for 10 years.  I work with adolescents and adults. I have training and expertise in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Flash Technique, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).  I have worked in community mental health, inpatient, adolescent forensic, and private practice settings while pursuing my PhD in Clinical Psychology, at George Washington University, and have extensive training in diagnostic and clinical assessments.

My education, training, and clinical practices have highlighted multicultural and diversity issues, and I continue to practice in consideration of cultural issues/needs when evaluating, assessing, and providing services to clients.  I am originally from San Francisco, which I feel largely shaped who I am and how I see the world.  My focus is to meet people where they are and create a trusting relationship to allow people to heal from past trauma and end emotional suffering.  I treat each client as an individual, but work within a consistent framework. I use an integrative approach to treatment planning, which includes cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and environmental/family systems interventions. I currently accept United Health Care Community Plan (AHCCCS), AETNA, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, and Magellan insurance. I am unable to accept Optima/United Healthcare commercial insurance.
